Description

This model 5E6 amp sounds great. Late 1956, almost 1957 two input dual rectifier model that I have been playing regularly. Worthy of a fresh vintage correct tweed recover in the future.

Since I’ve purchased this Bassman, I’ve acquired two more large Fender amps, so I’m switching it up.

I purchased this one years ago. It’s has been well recovered in black tolex long ago, probably back in the day when tweed was considered out of fashion. I have had only the necessary caps changed. Transformers are original, but I do not have pictures at this point. It you are ready to pull the trigger, I will get you some pics. The re-cover is not top tier, but it is not bad.

Tube chart date stamp of FK puts this in November of 1956

When I acquired this, the original baffle board was changed to a 15”, and grill cloth was gone. I have rebuilt the baffle board, and added four 1950’s Jensen Blue P10Q speakers: two pairs, both with 1956 dates & different weeks: the 6th & 42nd week. The 220606 pair has been re-coned at Speaker Repair Services. The other two are original cones. Marshall style grill cloth is on the baffle board now.

Year and Teal Blue un-retouched color correct P10Q’s are hard to find and typically cost $1,600 to $2,000 for a set of four.

I will not be able to pack & ship this amplifier quickly. If that is a problem, be sure to discuss details before finalizing any deals.
