If you have been looking for perhaps the best possible Stratocaster that the Fender Custom Shop is capable of making, please check out this fabulous instrument. Offered is this John Cruz Masterbuilt Wildwood "10" Relic Ready '62 Stratocaster made earlier this year.
This amazing guitar has about everything you could ask for in a high-end Stratocaster. To many, John Cruz makes the best Masterbuilt instruments that come out of the Fender Custom Shop. John's guitars are highly desirable and demand the highest market prices. Not only is this a John Cruz Masterbuilt, it is also a Wildwood "10" model Strat with it's namesake 10" fingerboard radius and known to be among the best that Fender produces.
The specs for this beauty include a lightweight Alder body and a quarter-sawn Maple neck. The guitar has a total weight of just 7 pounds, 7 ounces. The neck has a 60's style oval C shape with depth measurements of .79" at the first fret increasing to .93" at the twelfth fret. The incredibly dark AAA grade Rosewood fretboard looks and feels like Black Ebony and has a 10" radius with 6105 fret wire and a 1.650" bone nut. The electronics consist of three WW10 single coils with modern controls and wiring.
The guitar is finished in 'Aged Black' nitrocellulous lacquer and has received Fender's relatively new 'Relic Ready' finish format. This format consists of a particularly thin nitro finish. Initially buffed to a gloss, this finish designed to age more easily than a normal NOS finish. Besides allowing the player to relic the guitar themselves, the thin finish is also said to improve the guitar's tone and resonance.
People ask me, "....are Masterbuilt guitars worth the extra money?" Play this guitar for just a few moments and you will likely conclude that they are! This guitar is alive in your hands and the tone is fantastic - exactly what most folks are looking for in a high-end Strat. Please check out the brief sound sample included below.
This one owner 2019 guitar is in excellent minus condition and is already starting to show the light patina of a lightly aged instrument and has picked up a few tiny impressions from play and handling (see photos) as the 'Relic Ready' finish was designed to do. If you are a fan of Fender's 'Closet Classic' (light relic) format, then the condition of this guitar should appeal to you. The frets are in marvelous condition and show no observable wear (see photos).
This incredible Strat comes in it's original G&G case, in excellent condition, along with the certificate of authenticity, the build sheet, the Cruz Tools and all the other original accessories.
If you want perhaps the very best Strat that money can buy, then this may be the guitar for you. Just an amazing Stratocaster by John Cruz!
