Guitars made by Masterbuilder John Cruz are arguably the finest Fender is currently making. John's guitars are highly sought-after by both players and collectors and command some of the highest prices of any of the guitars coming out of the Fender Custom Shop. Offered here is a John Cruz P-90 Telecaster NOS #JC3113, one of just two examples made.
The specifications for this magnificent piece include the following: an Ash body with a 5A grade quilt Maple top with white pearl binding; a Rosewood neck with a large C-shape neck with depth measurements of .875" at the first fret increasing to .950" at the twelfth fret; an AAA grade Rosewood fretboard with a 9.50" radius, jumbo frets, a 1.650" bone nut, white pearl binding and MOP inlays; two Seymour Duncan P-90 pickups with master volume and tone controls and a three-way switch; gold hardware including a hardtail bridge and saddles, special logo volume and control knobs, a gold switch tip, gold Schaller strap locks and a Cruz signature backplate. The guitar is finished in urethane rather than nitro so as to eliminate worries about weather checking flaws to this fabulous NOS finish.
This guitar is certainly a showpiece, but it is so much more. It is light, balanced and a joy to play. The nice chunky Rosewood neck feels fabulous in your hand. The Duncan P-90's allow this guitar to sound like a Tele, but with a much fatter tone than you can get with single coils. Please check out the brief sound sample and the video provided. This is a Tele on steroids tone-wise.
As far as condition, "used" guitars don't come cleaner than this instrument. It has seen little if any play time and is in near mint condition. The only "flaw" I can find is a touch of finish fade on the gold Cruz logo backplate and even that is hard to find. The frets are flawless. The guitar comes in it's original G&G case along with the certificate of authenticity, the build sheet and all of the accessories shown. In most respects, this is a new guitar.
This lovely Cruz masterpiece originally sold for $8,800. Get this as new example, just one of two made, for substantially less. This guitar is something very special. Make it yours!
