Description

This is a very nice 1996 Fender Custom Shop 1956 R. I. “Vince Cunetto” Stratocaster. It is visually appealing and plays very well. These were the first Custom Shop reissues that were subcontracted out to Vince Cunetto, before the Fender Custom shop got rolling.$3,500 Bank wire transfer.

In addition to being a Fender Relic model, these have the additional bonus credential of being done by Vince in the early days. Early Cunetto Relics have achieved a cult status following of their own, for good reason.

Includes original case, all the case candy, and Custom Shop Certificate. Photos show the back plate removed, but I do have it.

These are tastefully relic’d, and many feel they were better done than the current relics, which are overdone. The nitrocellulose lacquer has sunk into the grain over the years giving this one a beautiful visual appeal. The Mary Kay finish offsets the gold hardware, the flamed neck, and the figured ash body beautifully. The Relic touch includes a cracked and glued together volume knob.

3-way switch has been changed to a 5-way, & includes the original tweed center pocket case & certificate dated September of 1996. Two solder joints are redone from when I pulled out the entire pickguard set up and replaced it with a set of old vintage Strat pickups and pots, now back to original harness setup.

Nicely figured neck has a slight V shape, and measures .837 1st fret, .968 7th fret, 1.008 12th fret. Weighs in at 7.6 lbs. All the original case candy is included! A great one for the collector or the player, and one that begs to be played! Please email for more pictures and with questions.
