1963 Fender Duo Sonic Sunburst

Summary: This Duo-Sonic has wear in all the right places….the finish on the back of the neck is nice and worn down giving the neck a great soft feel and the original frets have plenty of life left in them. All the original hardware and electronics are there and it plays and sounds like a vintage Fender should. Our guitar tech has just inspected, set up and restrung this Duo with a new set of 10s and it ships in its original brown hardshell case which is also in outstanding shape.

Body: Solid alder body with the original 3 tone sunburst finish and original single ply white pickguard.

Neck: Maple neck with veneer rosewood fingerboard, clay dots, bone nut, 22 ¾” scale length, 1 ½” nut width and end of heel truss rod adjustment.

Pickups/Hardware: Original single coil pickups with brown covers, volume, tone, 3 way toggle, 3 threaded steel saddles and original single line Kluson Deluxe tuners with white buttons. The low E string tuner has been changed but the original is in the case although it is missing its button.

Cosmetics: There is plenty of wear around the body especially on the edges, exposing the wood in some places, various chips dings and pick scratches typical for a guitar from 1963 and some mild tarnishing on the hardware. The finish on the back of the neck is naturally worn down giving it a soft feel. There are no breaks, cracks or visible repairs and all the electronics and solder joints are original and working great. The tuners tune up just fine but you can feel a little spot in a few of them where the gear is possibly worn.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with just a bit of wear on the first 3 or 4 frets but it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out and there is plenty of life left in them.

Modifications: The low E string tuner has been swapped out but the original is in the case. The original tuner is missing its white button.
