2003 Fender Jag-stang MIJ

Summary: Inspired and designed by the late Kurt Cobain, the Jag-Stang combines the best elements of a classic Fender Jaguar and Fender Mustang, as the name suggests. The offset body design gives it a retro-futuristic look, especially in tandem with the eye-catching fiesta red finish.

Body: These bodies were made of basswood. Its shape is a unique combination of a jaguar and a mustang, finished in fiesta red.

Neck: This guitar has a maple neck with no skunk stripe and a rosewood fretboard with pearl dots. Its fretboard radius is 7.25” and has 22 frets. Nut width-1 9/16” Scale length-24”

Pickups/Hardware: This Jag-Stang sports a slanted humbucker in the bridge and a slanted single coil in the neck position. They have a very cool crisp and barky tone to them. The pickups are controlled by individual on/off/in/out of phase switches and a master volume and tone. The pickguard is made of pearloid with a thin black veneer underneath. It has vintage style tuning machines, a Dynamic Fender Vibrato unit and a bridge with large mustang barrel saddles.

Cosmetics: This guitar looks incredible. It has a few nicks and dings on the body and neck as well as some buckle rash. There is also a spot on the back of the neck where it appears the finish has been played through a bit. The neck is straight and the frets are in fantastic condition with tons of life left in them. The fretboard has a few scratches in it around the 7th and 9th fret area.

Playability: This guitar is a lot of fun to play. The action is low and is easy to fret up and down the fingerboard. The neck is also a very comfortable shape that fits naturally in the hand and is easy to maneuver. This Jag-Stang has been setup by our in-house luthier and strung up with a new set of 10’s.

Modifications: Someone has installed strap locks and the strap buttons for them.

Case: This Jag-Stang does not come with a case but will ship safely packed, padded and insured.
