1960 Fender Jazz Bass Natural

1960 Fender Jazz Bass in very good condition with the right amount of love marks throughout the instrument. This bass is in all original condition with the only alteration being the stripped finish from original three tone sunburst. This bass came to us from our friend, Grammy Award-Winning vocalist, Catherine Russell and was owned by her late mother and acclaimed instrumentalist and vocalist, Carline Ray whose career spanned almost seventy years. Ray has worked with the likes of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, including in its 1971 production of “Mary Lou’s Mass,” by Ms. Williams, the pianist and composer. She also performed with big bands led by Sy Oliver and Skitch Henderson and, when it was under the direction of Mercer Ellington, the Duke Ellington Orchestra. This bass was constructed with an alder body, maple neck, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and two original Fender Jazz Bass single coil pickups. The neck dates to October, 1960 and the two original CTS stackpole pots date to the 39th week of 1960 and were only available on the the earliest and most sought after Jazz Basses (The Jazz Bass Model was introduced in 1960). This bass has a scale length of 34", an A neck with a nut width of 1.50", thickness at the first fret of .77", thickness at the twelfth fret of .97", and weighs 9.08 lbs exactly.
