Up for sale is an absolutely stunning collector’s grade 1965 Fender Jazz Bass in its original and quite rare custom color Firemist Gold finish. This bass came out of a large collection up here in the Pacific Northwest of some of the finest vintage Fender basses we’ve seen. This transitional era instrument features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots, L serial plate and a white pickguard. The neck is stamped 7MAY65A, pots are coded 1376528 dating to the 28th week of 1965. The neck pocket is correct showing “paint stick” mark and an original shim. Under UV light the entire instrument glows just as it should showing the finish to be correct. This instrument is entirely original with the exception of a professional refret and plek with stainless steel frets and new bone nut by Mike Lull in Bellevue, WA. At the same of the fret job time it became apparent one of the pickups needed to be repaired. The repair was performed retaining the original winding and installing new foam under both pickups.
