Description

Summary: The Fender Jazz bass was introduced in 1960 as a higher-end alternative to the Fender P Bass – the J Bass used closer string spacing, a thinner neck profile at the nut & two punchy single coil pickups to give the player more tonal range and a comfortable thin neck.

Body: Offset-waist contoured solid body with a worn but beautiful mocha finish.

Neck: Fully bound maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 20 frets, block pearloid inlays, 34” scale length, 1 7/16” nut width, open-back Fender tuning machines.

Electronics/Hardware: Two single-coil pickups. Two volume and one master tone control with black knobs. Open-gear “Fender”-stamped tuners. Chrome bridge and pickup covers, treble side finger rest.

Cosmetics: This baby shows lots of wear but the worn in look only adds character & charm to this bass guitar. There is lots of buckle rash and scratches on the back consistent with a vintage bass from the early 1970’s. The finish has some awesome checking that is developing all over the body. The top has 2 holes where someone added a bass side finger rest at some time & then removed it. There is noticeable wear around the edges & near the pickguard. The chrome on the control plate & the pickup cover is pitting. Overall this baby shows lots of wear but it is structurally sound & ready to be played & loved.

Playability: This bass plays great & we have it strung up with flatwounds – the action is comfortable but can be adjusted if you want it lower – the bass plays good up & down the fingerboard.

Mods: One pickup has been replaced with a 62’ reissue pickup & the pickguard has been changed.

Weight: 10 lbs, 2 oz (with the pickup cover on)

Case: Original hard shell
