Up for sale, a 2006 Fender "Crafted in Japan" Jazz Bass in excellent condition and perfect working order. Made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, this '62 reissue bass is part of the "Exclusive" series, with factory upgrades not found on Fender Japan's standard line of reissue instruments. On this Jazz Bass, the most notable perk of the Exclusive series is a set of American Standard pickups, as well as a premium alder body, and tuning machines that are more robust and have a footprint that matches Pre-CBS Fender spec.

Weighing a comfortable 9lbs 6oz, this Jazz Bass has a clear and balanced acoustic tone with excellent sustain and strong note attack. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that helps a Jazz Bass cut through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump when balancing the sound between the two single coils. The tone can get quite smooth and wide too, simply by rolling off the bridge pickup volume and master tone control, for a thick sound that doesn't lack definition. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazz Bass is strung with roundwound strings and dialed in with low action.

The neck has Fender's traditional 1 1/2" Jazz Bass nut width, with a full 34" scale and a slab rosewood fretboard on the one-piece maple neck. The frets show some minor wear down in the lower frets, mostly relegated to the E and A strings, with a fairly slender vintage width, well rounded crowns, and no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The lightly ambered peghead sports the correct '62 style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal, along with original chrome tuning machines with clover buttons and even the extra strap button seen on vintage Fenders until 1967.

All of the electronics work as they should, with stock pickups and pots. The chrome bridge and control plate have great shine and no notable wear, and the white pickguard contrasts nicely with the Candy Apple Red custom color finish. There are a few scattered nicks and dings on the body, mostly limited to the top and bottom edges, with the most prominent being on the top edge near the tummy cut. Overall, this instrument has been very well cared for, and a Jazz Bass always looks its best with a custom color finish.

With Fender's recent decision to discontinue many of the Japanese reissue models, these instruments are quickly becoming much more rare and sought after, with custom color examples commanding a premium!

A gigbag is included (not pictured).
