Summary: Fender announced the Jazzmaster at the 1958 NAMM show as a high-end jazz guitar with an array of innovative features and sleek sports-car inspired curves. Though the model never really caught on with jazz players, it was quickly embraced by surf rock players due to its unique floating tremolo system and mellower sounding pickups. Later, the Jazzmaster would find new life as an iconic instrument for a range of indie rock players. This is a 1960 Fender Jazzmaster that has been loved and played throughout its lifetime – there are some character marks on this instrument but it sounds and plays great.

Body: Alder offset contour body. Three-tone sunburst finish.

Neck: One-piece Maple bolt-on neck. Unbound veneer rosewood fretboard with pearl dot markers. 25.5” scale. 7.25” radius. 1 5/8” nut.

Pickups/Hardware: Two original Jazzmaster single-coil pickups in white plastic covers. Three-ply tortoiseshell plastic pickguard. Original Jazzmaster bridge and vibrato assembly with arm. Selector switch for rhythm or lead tone circuit. Three position pickup selector for lead circuit. Volume and tone roller controls for rhythm circuit. Chromed hardware. Kluson Deluxe tuners, six in a line.

Cosmetics: This vintage guitar does have some dings & nicks on the body consistent with a well-played and well-loved instrument from 1960. Up close the guitar has a beautiful checking pattern. There are several places where the finish has worn down to the wood and a few places around the edges where you can see wear, but structurally this instrument is totally sound & ready to rock.

Playability: This is a great playing Jazzmaster – the action is low and the guitar plays with no buzzing or dead spots. We set this guitar up with 10’s and it is one of the coolest instruments in our shop.
