Summary: This is a very early production Desert Sand Musicmaster guitar from 1957 with gold anodized pickguard. This one is in great shape and has a soft V ‘50s profile maple neck. The Musicmaster was Fenders “student model” guitar and features a 22.5” short scale which gives it a unique tone and makes for a fun player. The bodies were routed for 2 pickups so it could be interchangeable with its 2 pickup sibling the “Duo Sonic”. Our in house luthier has just set this guitar up with low action, a straight neck, and restrung it with a new set of 10s. It comes with the bridge cover and ships in its beautiful original brown hard-shell case!
Body: It has a lightweight solid body with the original desert sand finish and gold anodized pickguard.
Neck: The maple neck has a soft V profile, 21 frets, bone nut, original Kluson Deluxe single line tuning keys, 22.5” scale length and 1 5/8” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: It has the original single coil pickup with white cover, 3 saddle bridge with cover and knurled volume and tone knobs.
Cosmetics: This Fender is in beautiful vintage condition considering its over 60 years old! There are lots of chips and dings around the edges and on the body, some wear through the bottom edges of the body exposing the body wood underneath, wear through the finish on the fingerboard, some minor wear on the back of the neck and various scratches and nicks here and there but nothing too severe or anything that impedes the amazing playability of the guitar! The tuning keys are original & show lots of wear on the buttons but they are still functioning & the guitar is staying in tune great.
Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots.
