1972 Fender Mustang Competition Blue

Summary: This is one of the cleanest Competition Mustangs we’ve had in our shop in a long time and the blue finish is stunning. It is all original, has just been setup and restrung by our in house guitar tech and ships in its original silver hard-shell case with whammy bar!

Body: Solid body with blue finish and racing stripes.

Neck: Chunky maple neck with veneer rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dots, end of heel truss rod adjustment, 24” scale length and 1.6” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: All original hardware, 2 single coil pickups, volume, tone, on/off/on switches for each pickup, out-of-phase tone can be achieved with these, Dynamic Vibrato unit with whammy bar and closed back F stamped tuners with white buttons.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in excellent shape for a guitar from 1971. There are light scratches around the body, mostly on the back, some light pick scratches on the top and pickguard, a small discolored area on the back by the end of the racing stripes, slight tarnishing on the back plate, some very light wear on the tops of the saddles, a few minor dings and scuffs around the edges, one ding on the treble side horn, a few shallow dents on the top and back and some fret wear on the first 7 frets.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The first 7 frets have some wear but it still plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out.
