1988 Fender Strat Plus Vintage Blonde

Summary: If the name didn't imply, the Fender Strat Plus was originally released in 1987 as an upgraded American Standard Stratocaster, in particular boasting Lace Sensor Gold pickups, locking tuners, a roller nut, and Fender's TBX tone control system. If you're looking for a Stratocaster that offers more versatility and tuning stability than an American Standard, a Strat Plus might be the perfect guitar for you. This guitar looks absolutely beautiful, plays and stays in tune flawlessly and ships in the original hard-shell case.

Body: The Strat body is finished in a beautiful vintage white and topped off with a 3 ply w/b/w pickguard.

Neck: The neck is one piece maple, it has jumbo frets, black fret markers, locking tuners, LSR roller nut, 25.5” scale length and nut width of 1.68”.

Pickups/Hardware: This Strat has the original gold Lace Sensor pickups, 5 way switch, one volume and 2 tones. The LSR roller nut has been installed to replace the original Wilkinson. The Wilkinson nuts were inferior to later LSR Roller nuts that started to appear mid-1993. These made string changes much easier, as each string rode on top of a set of roller bearings—a really great improvement over the Wilkinson nuts. The idea with the roller nut was to improve tuning while using the tremolo. The tuners are nickel plated locking tuners.

Cosmetics: This Strat is in impeccable shape. There are no chips or dings in the body or neck because this instrument was handled with the upmost care. The frets have a small amount of wear and there are two small cracks in the finish around the neck pocket-typical with most bolt on guitars. (see pictures) There is one small ding on the upper horn & a scratch on the lower horn but the overall beauty of this finish overcomes any imperfections.

Playability: The action is low and the neck is straight. Our in-house luthier has set this guitar up to its optimum potential and it plays and sounds great. The vibrato bar functions smooth and keeps its tune very well.

Modifications: The original Wilkinson roller nut has been replaced with the newer and improved LSR version that fender was offering later for this model.

Case: This fine instrument ships in its original ‘80s Fender hardshell case. The case has a few scuffs on the exterior but it’s in overall great shape and keeps the instrument safe and secure.
