Description

About a year ago, I had another of these very rare slab board blonde Strats with gold hardware. I said "find another" and it sold. So, now I found another. So, when is a Mary Kaye not a Mary Kaye? Well, I guess it depends on how you define a Mary Kaye. I always thought it was an ash bodied blonde Strat with gold hardware with a maple neck. The Vintage Guitar Price Guide calls a blonde, gold hardware slab board Strat a Mary Kaye, so I guess I can, too. There are probably fewer of these than there are of the classic maple neck Mary Kaye. The guitar is in good to very good condition-lets call it an 8. Finish is all original. It has a couple of cracks in the usual places on the guard. Electronics are original, pot codes are 46th week of 59. The gold is in unusually good condition with some gold remaining on the truss rod nut and most of the gold on the bridge cover. Body date is 4/59. There is no neck date (usual for this period). Original frets in good shape. Volume knob is a different shade than the two tone knobs but is probably original-it just gets way more use. Case candy includes original hang tag, polishing cloth and a "Get Fenderized" pin. Case is original brown.
