Does ugly count as a selling point? This one has got ugly pretty well nailed down. It was once a 1960 slab board Strat in the usual sunburst. It got played hard and things went downhill looks wise from there. Somebody got the idea that it would look good in cherryburst a color that looks bad on anything other than a Les Paul and maybe a 335. The refin was probably done by a pro but it has faded badly and now looks, essentially, like an orange guitar with a cherryburst back. Lots of buckle rash and arm wear. The back of the neck is pretty heavily worn as well. Slab board Strats are popular for a reason. A big old slab of Brazilian rosewood feels good in the hand but it won't sound any different than a Strat that doesn't have it. But old wood and old electronics can add up to a very useful (and even inspiring) instrument. Just don't look too hard at it. The electronics are original as are all of the parts. The bridge cover is missing. The guard has the usual crack by the neck pickup adjustment screw. The point of the guard at the treble side cutaway is still intact but it looks like a crack is imminent. It still has its three way but not its original frets. It will need a re-fret sooner rather than later depending on how you play. The board shows some wear at the cowboy chord frets. The guitar is loud and articulate. I'd describe the tone as woody and musical. Case is original brown version in good condition. Internal photos coming soon.
