This '63 Stripped-finish Stratocaster has tons of vibe and sounds excellent with impressive natural resonance and sustain. A shining feature of this workhorse Strat is the stock electronics which sound great producing a charming vintage character with tons of power/versatility for the quintessential Fender tone. The neck features a "2MAR63B" neck date and sports a slimmer profile that plays great thanks to a replaced nut and a pro-re-fret for updated playability! Other mods include some evidence of solder repair and some reaming from when a prior owner replaced the tuners with double-line Klusons. This is an excellent example with tons of vibe and the perfect worn-in aesthetic. Includes Modern Hardshell Case.

Check out the feature from our luthier Tyler in the ECG Newsletter:

"One of Fender’s most beloved signature models, and certainly among my personal favorites, has for years been the Rory Gallagher Stratocaster. The faithful reproduction of Rory’s original ’61 Strat leaves no detail overlooked and is most often remembered for its nearly absent finish. This 1963 model has all the vibe of Gallagher’s iconic ’61, with marginally less finish.

Excluding the stripped body, the first thing a player would likely notice about this guitar is its remarkably lightweight. Tipping the scales at just a hair over 7 pounds, its resonance and sustain are every bit as appealing as the lack of spinal compression it will cause over the course of a long gig. Sure, it’s not the most original Strat we’ve ever seen. But this one has it where it counts. The pickups, electronics, and hardware are all factory appointments from early-1963. The coveted Brazilian rosewood fretboard is dark and oily, imparting a glassy clarity across the guitar’s tonal spectrum. The nut and frets have been updated for the sake of playability, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

In terms of player-grade pre-CBS Strats, this is simply as good as it gets. Whether you’d play this natural relic as is or have it refinished in your favorite custom color, it is truly one of the finest playing Stratocasters we have come across in recent memory."
