CBS took over Fender in 1965 and, if you ask most folks, the quality went down the tubes. And yet, a certain Jimi Hendrix played a post CBS Strat as well as countless other pro players. It isn't like CBS came in and changed everything one day one. They didn't. They instituted changes so they could make more money and they eventually screwed things up pretty badly. But a 69 Strat? Still a great guitar. Yeah the big headstock is kind of dumb looking and those Fender "F" tuners are crap but that's not enough to make a great design into garbage. These are a great deal right now with Custom Shop Strats reaching over $9000. Let's see do I want a brand new Strat or one that's almost 50 years old. Your call.
