Description

I have been on a vintage Telecaster run of late and have several superb examples for sale. As one of the first electrics introduced, Telecasters never go out of style and few other models can match a vintage Telecaster's tone, playability and vibe. And if you are going to spend serious money on an electric guitar, buy one that is also a good investment.

Offered for your consideration is this exceptional vintage Fender Telecaster, serial number 241398 which was built in 1968. This guitar is notable for its relatively rare and desirable maple cap fingerboard. It has an Ash body with it's original well-faded and yellowed blonde nitro finish. The Maple neck that is dated May, 1968 with an early 60's 'C' shape with depth measurements of .813" at the first fret increasing to .918" at the twelfth fret. This one weighs just 7 pounds, 2 ounces and is nicely balanced. In the 1990's it was given new medium frets, a new nut, a new volume pot and the neck was oversprayed as a result of the refret. It retains the original "black bottom" pickups and the tone pot dates to 1966.

This guitar was professionally played for decades. It still plays like butter and has a voice that only old wood and electroncs can seem to produce. Please check out the brief sound sample included below. The bridge pickup's tone is particularly special to my old ears!

This guitar has been well played and the body shows its share of body wear as indicated in the included photos. The maple fingerboard has the stain marks that well-played cap-necked Telecasters are known for. The newer (90's) frets have been crowned and remain in great condition, with an estimated 70% of their useful life remaining. There is a tiny chip in the nut adjacent to the high E string, but the string slot remains intact with no impact on play. It comes in it's original black Fender / G&G tolex case with the orange interior which is in very good condition. It comes with the ashtray bridge cover and the original steel saddles.

If you are looking for the best playing and sounding investment-grade vintage Tele you can get, this Tele warrants your serious consideration. This guitar just feels amazing and the vibe is unmistakable. It will likely spoil you for anything more recently built.
