Description

Offered is this exceptional vintage American made Fender Telecaster built in 1978. Except for a rewound bridge pickup and the case it comes in, this lovely 42 year old example is completely original.

In several important ways, this guitar is relatively unique for Telecasters of this era. It has an all-original natural finish, a rare factory option in 1978 when most were vintage blonde or butterscotch. It's lovely dark rosewood fingerboard is also a relatively rare option for guitars of this period. It has a Swamp Ash body and weighs just 7.2 pounds! It also has a nice chunky neck with depth measurements of .925" at the first fret increasing to .965" at the twelfth fret. This well-preserved instrument is all original except for the bridge pickup, which although original to the guitar, was recently rewound by the folks at Lindy Fralin Pickups. Even the original black pickguard with the matching serial number remains intact.

This vintage instrument remains in very good condition. The body shows it's share of small bumps and bruises as noted in the included photos, but nothing serious. The original frets remain in very good condition and received a recent crowning making for a superb playing Telecaster. It sounds great too, as evidenced by the included sound sample. Nothing sounds as good as old wood! While not original to the guitar, it comes in a very cool 90's era Fender "machine gun" style molded case which is a collectible item in an of itself.

If you have been lusting for an affordable vintage Tele that is also a great player, do yourself a favor and give careful consideratiom to this lovely '78 guitar. Very nice indeed!
