Description

Offered for your consideration is yet another fabulous vintage Fender Telecaster. This lovely Tele was built in 1966, very soon after the CBS takeover and before they managed to "muck it up." It has a highly desirable rosewood fingerboard and appears entirely original!

This Telecaster is serial number 173168. It has a neck date of August, 1966. It has an alder body and a well-faded Olympic White nitro finish. It has a medium C-shaped maple neck with depth measurements of .841" at the first fret tapering up to .931" at the twelfth fret. The lovely dark rosewood fingerboad looks like Brazilian and has pearloid dot inlays. The frets are original, as are the pickups, wiring and controls. The pots date to 1966. All the solder joints appear original and the factory-installed "bass circuit" on the neck pickup is still in place. The original owner played with the "ashtray" bridge cover in place so it is well worn, but the original bridge shines like a much newer unit as a result. It has the Kluson Deluxe tuners which pre-dated the "F" branded units used in subsequent years. This guitar weighs just 7 pounds, 6 ounces and hangs nicely on a strap.

This is one of those guitars that I know I will regret selling down the road. It is light and resonant and a joy to play. Even with the original frets, this guitar is still quite playable. It sounds like a vintage Tele should too. Please check out the brief sound sample included below.

As the saying goes, "the good ones have been played" and this guitar has been well-played. The original frets are worn, but still have plenty of life left in them. The round laminate rosewood fretboard shows some wear. The original Olympic White finish has faded and yellowed and is worn in all the usual places, with some finish loss on the back edge of the guitar near the input jack. That said, this guitar still looks awesome and just drips with vintage vibe. It comes in its original black tolex case along with the well-worn bridge cover. Please note that a portion of the plastic Fender "amp logo" is gone from the exterior of the case.

Vintage Telecasters like this one don't come around very often and the prices of such instruments are only going one way and that is up! Click the 'Buy Now' button and make this fabulous example of an iconic Fender instrument yours today. You will be very, very glad you did!
