Description

This is a fantastically clean, collectors’ grade, 1961 two piece Tremolux. For me, there are no Fender amps more beautiful and classic than the two piece “oxblood grillcloth” ,“rough white tolex” , white knob Fenders. Price is for Bank Wire Transfer.

The pine on the inside of the cab is white and so clean it looks like it was made recently. This has been well preserved in a semi-arid environment, perfect for preserving amps.

The rough white tolex does not refer to the condition of the amp, it refers to the texture of the tolex, as compared to the less desirable “smooth white” tolex that appeared in later years.

These are absolute classic amps. This has a couple of cosmetic issues, but the overall condition of this one surpasses those issues.

Tube chart is 6G9B, and is super clean. I purchased this amp 30 years ago, probably from it’s original owner.

As on most of these, the original speakers were gone. I have restored the speakers back to the original Oxford style 465-248 10K5-4….48th week of 1962 with fresh recons from Weber. The week of manufacture does not match up exactly, but finding a matched set is hard enough, so I’m glad to have these. I’ve got over $500 invested (including shipping) invested in getting these speakers restored to original spec. I also redid the cabinet wiring.

Power Transformer reads 125P6A 68409

Output Transformer reads125A6A 606-216

Choke reads 125C31 -606-2-15

Electrolytic Cap dates read 62-16 & 62-17

Includes the original tubes.

As you can see in the pictures, the Electrolytic caps need to be replaced. Still has the original two prong cord, and the original chassis to cab cord. The cabinet and the back panel both have “114” written in red grease pen. After looking at lots of vintage fender amps, I think this number is the number of days in the year. In 1961, 114 would be Monday, April 24th, the 114th Day of the year. Those who spend time on internet forums can correct me on this..those forums have all the correct information.

Date stamp is hard to read. First letter is illegible, second is E, so the cabinet being made in April is appropriate. 1962 should be “L”.

Original owner added wheels to the bottom, since removed, and also handles on the side of the cab, since removed. The handles on the side of the cab did not leave imprints. See the pics.

This will ship as two pieces.Shipping is estimated at $300. Packing this is going to take some time, and it will not be boxed up quickly. All amps are sold “as is” , “no returns” due to the nature of vintage electronics. Price is Bank Wire Transfer Price. Paypal add 3.5%.
