Description

If you have never tried an ergonomic guitar, or if you are just looking to try something very different, perhaps you should consider this very cool Orion, by Chris Forshage. While built with the original Klein guitar in mind, this is a much more contemporary design.

Each Orion is custom built to the owner's specs. This guitar has a short string scale (24.75") with a 22-fret, glued-in neck. The body is carved Honduran Mahogany and the top is burled Maple. No grain filler is used to maximize resonance and the guitar is finished in a very light nitrocellulose lacquer. The neck is also Honduran Mahogany and it has been given a nice chunky soft V shape, with a .89" first fret depth. The fretboard is Pau Ferro, with a 9.5" radius, 6105 frets, flame Maple binding and a 1-11/16" bone nut. The electronics on this instrument include Lindy Fralin Noiseless P-90's with master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle. The bridge setup consists of an ABM headless system along with Tune-O-Matic hardware.

Play this guitar and you immediately notice how comfortable it is to play. Sitting or standing, this is a guitar that can be played all night long without fatigue to your shoulder or back. It weighs just 6.6 pounds and is perfectly balanced. It's short overall length without a headstock gives you greater freedom of movement around other players, mike stands and the like.

The playability is superb and the chunky neck feels quite comfortable and players will find it's shape quite similar to that of a '59 LP. It has a nice low, buzz-free setup with Elixir Nano .10's. The tone of this guitar is somewhere between that of a Les Paul and a 335 with a nice thick mid-range. Check out the provided brief sound sample for a taste.

This guitar has been played and the back sports a bit of belt worming, but the thin natural finish makes these flaws very difficult to see or photograph. This worming aside, it is in very good overall condition and the neck and frets are spotless. It comes in it's original gig bag along with the string change allen wrenches. By the way, changing strings on this guitar is a breeze!

This is a very cool guitar that is easy on your back, plays great and sounds even better. Highly recommended!
