2018 Gibson 1958 Historic Light Burst

Summary: In 1958, Gibson parted ways with the gold finish on the Les Paul Model and introduced the "Les Paul Standard," a refresh that featured a center-seam maple top, red aniline dye back and sides, and a beautiful transparent Cherry Sunburst finish. While only that one color was available originally, exposure to sunlight and subtle variations have made each original example unique in color. Gibson Custom picked four beautiful sunburst variations for the new 2018 Historic Collection, each bringing out all the character of the unique maple tops. And just like the 1958 originals, the neck profiles on these Historic models are just a bit beefier on average when compared to a 1959 – a comfortable chunky C-shape. Two new updates for 2018 include the inclusion of all True Historic-spec parts and, for the first time, narrow/tall frets which bring the tone and playability closer to the character of the originals.

Body: Mahogany body with a maple cap & a beautiful light burst finish

Neck: Mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, block pearloid inlays. This instrument has a long neck tenon & they used hide glue to fit the neck. Medium-Chunky C-Shape, .9" depth at nut, 1.0" at 12th fret, 1.687” nut width, 22 frets, 24.75” scale length, 12” radius

Pickups/Hardware: Nickel finished hardware, Kluson Deluxe single line tuning keys, lightweight aluminum tailpiece, ABR-1 bridge, 2 Custombucker pickups, 2 500K CTS volume pots, hand-wired harness with Bumblebee caps, Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch.

Cosmetics: This 2018 Gibson is in great shape – there are some scratches on the pickguard but overall this guitar hasn’t been played very much & it is ready to be loved & played for years to come!

Playability: We set this Gibson up with a new set of 10’s and the instrument plays wonderfully. The action is low & the guitar feels fabulous up & down the fingerboard.
