Description

Offered here is a very "special" guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop; the Les Paul Special Maple Top. Just 50 examples of this guitar were built in 2017.

As with other Les Paul Special models, this is a 22 fret, short scale (24.75") guitar. Gibson starts with a non-weight relieved Mahogany slab for the back of the instrument. In the case of this unique piece, however, a layer of Maple is added to the top to give the guitar's tone a bit more clarity and brightness. This beauty has a total weight of just 8 pounds, two ounces and is balanced perfectly. Other features include a Mahogany neck with a rounded C-shape which on this one has depth measurements of .90" at the first fret increasing to 1.00" at the twelfth fret. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, medium/jumbo frets, rolled cream binding and a 1.687" corian nut. It has an ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece, Kluson 3-on-a-side tuners and black top hat control knobs. The pickups are "Custom P90 Soapbars" with volume and tone controls for each pickup along with a a three-way toggle switch. These limited edition guitars are finished with a unique "Dark Cherry" gloss nitro lacquer finish.

Les Paul Specials have always been known and loved as serious rock machines and this guitar just takes these roots to a new level. Those with sensitive, undamaged ears (unlike my own) will note the slight bit of additional brightness that the maple top adds to the voice of this model. Check out the brief sound sample to see if you agree. This guitar is setup nicely and plays like proverbial "butta". I've also included a video of another guitar from this limited run for your reference.

This collector-owned piece is in near mint condition with no flaws of any significance and the frets are like new as well. Please excuse the lint dust that appears on the guitar in some of my photos; I didn't do a very good job of cleaning up between shots. You can be assured that the guitar's dark, glossy finish is virtually flawless. It comes in it's original Gibson Custom Shop brown case with the pink lining, along with the certificate of authenticity.

I've seen a couple guitars from this limited run offered for about $3,800. Get this near mint example for a cool grand $ less. A very cool and very "special" instrument. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make it yours. Buy it on our website and only New York residents pay sales tax.
