2015 Gibson Custom True Historic '59 Les Paul Reissue 7 lbs. 12 oz!! Cherry Sunburst
Offered here is a 2015 Gibson Custom Shop "True Historic" '59 Les Paul Reissue. Gibson built and sold these fabulous LP's for just a few years prior to the company's financial and leadership reorganization in 2019. These True Historics were built to be a close as possible to the originals. With their hand-wet-sanded, historically accurate finishes, these True Historics are no longer being manufactured because of their high production costs. As such, full-blown True Historic LP's like this one are likely to be highly sought-after in the years to come.
This guitar was built in 2015 to True Historic specs with full animal hide glue, vintage correct plastics, analine dyes, hand sanding, etc. It has a period-accurate C-shaped neck with moderate shoulders and depth measurements of .900" at the first fret and 1.020" at the twelfth fret. The pickups of course are Gibson's Custom Buckers, which many folks consider their best pickups since the original PAF's. This highly flamed, Vintage Cherryburst example is perfectly balanced with no neck dive. It is likely the lightest, non-weight relieved Les Paul reissue we have ever had in stock, at an incredible 7 pounds, 12 ounces (7.75 lbs)!!!
It is sad Gibson isn't making these any longer. This guitar, and the few other True Historics we have had in stock are among the best LP reissues we have ever played and/or sold. This guitar has a bit of LP "magic" to go along with its light weight. It just feels right with gobs of resonance and it plays superbly. The tone has that fat LP "bite" but cleans up nicely as the attached sound sample testifies. Nice!!
This guitar was collector-owned and has seen only limited play. It has Gibson's VOS specs (very light aging patina) but otherwise shows no wear of any significance and the frets show no observable wear (see photo). It comes in it's original Lifton-style reissue case with the certificate and all the original paperwork.
These guitars sold for $8.5K when they were still available, but this ultra-light weight example of this now 'extinct' model can be yours for $1.5K less. If you want one of the very best, and perhaps the lightest solid body LP reissue that Gibson has ever made, get this True Historic beauty!

Shipping to Continental US addresses is via FedEx Ground, with flat rate shipping of $60 to Eastern time zones, $70 Central and $80 Mountain/Pacific. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is $100. Refunds of the original purchase price less shipping and a 10% restocking fee may be requested within 48 hours of delivery. Exchanges within one (1) week of the original date of purchase may be made for an item of equal or greater value at the discretion of Capital Guitars. Where permitted herein, items must be promptly returned at the buyer's expense, in the same condition as received with all accessories and paperwork included. Sale items, purchases that are made via layaway, those involving trades and/or international shipping are considered final except upon an error by and at the discretion of Capital Guitars.
