Summary: This ES-125 is a straight up vintage tone machine. No frills and all thrills from one punchy, soulful P-90 on a great-looking, lightweight maple body.
Body: Single cutaway, thin-line archtop body. Bound maple ply top, back and sides. F-holes. 16 ¼” across lower bout. Sunburst finish.
Neck: Mahogany set neck. Unbound rosewood fretboard with dot markers. Gold “Gibson” silkscreen on headstock. 1 5/8” nut width. 24 ¾” scale length.
Pickups/Hardware: Single dog-ear P-90 pickup in neck position. Rosewood floating bridge and nickel trapeze tailpiece. Single-line Kluson Deluxe tuners with white buttons. Bone nut. Single volume and tone controls with gold knobs. Tortoise pickguard with bracket.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape with minimal, superficial dings and scratches. There is a small hole where a different pickguard had been mounted; this hole has been filled, but the finish around shows remains of this process. Some wear to the first few frets, which are otherwise in excellent shape. The nickel hardware is lightly tarnished and the tortoise guard has the slightest curve. The binding is in fine condition and aged to a handsome cream color.
Playability: This guitar plays great. The action is low with no buzz or dead spots. Unplugged, the body has a snappy acoustic tone; plugged in, you get the beefy yet defined tone for which vintage P-90s are loved.
