Description

What's the rarest production (not special order) 335? A red 60. Rarer than any of the blondes, there are only 21 of them. How many are stop tails? Maybe a dozen or 15. How many are unmolested out of that dozen? Ten? Nine? Yes, there are a few (maybe 6) red 59's but red wasn't offered as a standard color on 335's until 60. This late January or early February 60 ES-335 checks all the boxes. All 59 features (bumblebee caps, bonnet knobs and single ring tuners). The neck is the medium early 60, the same as a late 59. Neck depth measures .85" behind the first fret and .94" behind the 12th. All original except for the frets. Tuners are correct but the guitar had Grovers at some point-shaft holes are doweled and redrilled for proper fit-no extra holes anywhere. Tuner tips are replacements. PAFs measure 8.20K and 7.78K. Condition is 8.5. The red has that wonderful watermelon fade that only the early ones have. Interesting provenance (RR Hall of Fame) will be shared with the buyer. Original Gibson badged brown case in excellent condition.
