Summary: There are few Gibson ES-335 semi-hollowbody electric guitars as recognizable as Warren Haynes's Big Red. Between his work with the Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule, not to mention an extensive solo career and appearances with artists such as Phil Lesh & Friends and The Dead, Warren Haynes has spent over three decades as one of the hardest working players in the world of roots rock - and his 1961 Gibson ES-335 has seen him through it every step of the way. Whether you’re looking for a taste of what makes Warren Haynes tick or just a fantastic reproduction of a 1961 ES-335, this guitar will amaze you with its ease of playability and vibrant vintage tone, it will not disappoint! This rarity is # 1 of 500 and ships in its original hard shell case with COA.

Body: Semi-hollow maple and poplar body made from individually matched cathedral pattern veneers and hand stained to match the original. The lightweight 1961 style maple center block provides ample resonance and satisfying sustain.

Neck: Hand-selected lightweight mahogany neck, shaped to match the original as close as possible. The bound rosewood fretboard has 22 frets, pearl dots, Kluson Deluxe tuners with green keystone pegs, 24 3/4” scale length and 1 23/32” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: With their tight lows, singing highs, and detailed midrange, Gibson BurstBucker pickups give this Warren Haynes Celebrity Series 1961 ES-335 the sound of PAFs in their heyday. There is a 3 way toggle, 2 volumes, 2 tones, tune-o-matic bridge and stop tail piece and lightly aged nickel hardware.

Cosmetics: This guitar has been played quite a bit so it shows some wear, typical for a well-loved instrument. The back of the neck is blemish free but there are some small cracks in the binding at the fret ends as well as a few chips in the headstock, most notably on the top side where a piece had to be glued back down(see pictures). There are also some white specs on the headstock and fretboard. The frets themselves are in fantastic shape with no gouges in them. The pickup covers have plenty of tarnishing, there are some minor pick scratches on the top, a few minor scratches on the back, some “swirling” marks from a strap by the back strap button and some little dings by the butt-end strap button. Overall this is a fine instrument, it looks great and functions superbly.

Playability: The action has been set low by our in house luthier and the neck is straight and comfortably slim. We have just strung it up with a new set of 10s and it is extremely resonant when played acoustically and it really comes across when amplified as well- this Gibson is really hard to put down!
