Ah, the Gibson ES-335. You can rock it, you can roll it, you can go up-country or downbeat; one might even stand you in good stead in a bar fight. Which is to say, hard to beat a good one of these, and the ones from the late 1970s are a little special. For one thing, the trapeze tailpiece gives ES-335s from this narrow time slot a particular kind of clean sound, find it nowhere else and do anything you like with it. For another, a very few rare examples, this one for instance, have an extra coil-tap switch up top, which you can use or not, at your discretion.
