Based on Gibson’s beloved Es-335, the Es-339 is a similar design with a much smaller body size. Essentially it is a 335 with a more Les Paul-sized body, giving you the best of both worlds: the warmth of a traditional Gibson hollow body coupled with the feel and sustain of Gibson’s solid body models. It lacks the “F-holes” of Gibson’s other hollow/semi-hollow offerings, allowing for less feedback and more volume. It also sports a Les Paul-style ABR-1 bridge with a stop tail piece. The gently arched figured maple top is accented with a beautiful slightly flamed gloss sunburst finish with satin finished back and sides. It sports a Classic ’57 humbucker in the neck and a bridge position Super ’57 humbucker. They are wired up with push/pull volume pots as well as a 10dB user-adjustable boost on the rhythm control knob. There’s no shortage of tonal possibilities with this baby, I’ll tell ya what! Weight-wise this guitar sits somewhere in-between a hollow body and a solid body, coming in at a comfortable and manageable 7 ½ lbs. The guitar is in excellent cosmetic shape with little-to-no wear or cosmetic blemishes. The medium-jumbo frets also have no noticeable wear.It has been strung up with round-wound 10s and plays fantastic with very comfortable, low action. Overall this Es-339 is an excellent example of Gibson’s continued ingenuity; a guitar that combines the sound of a semi-hollow thinline Gibson with the versatility and feedback-resistance of a solid body Gibson. Includes original hard shell case.
