The ES-340 was an upgraded version of the ES-335 that was offered by Gibson from 1969-1973. Basically, it was a 335, but featured a laminated maple (not mahogany) neck, and some funky electronics that involved a master volume and “master mixer control.” This particular guitar has had it’s wiring changed back to the normal 2 volume, 2 tone set up. A really nice sounding set of Seymour Duncan pickups, with newer mounting rings, have replaced the originals. This guitar also has a very nice figure in the maple ply. The bridge is a period correct Gibson but with metal saddles. The pickguard is gone. The pots may, or may not have been changed, I don’t know. All else is original. Original 2/ring, 2/line Kluson Deluxe tuners with no extra holes or reeming. Cosmetically, this guitar has been played, but not abused. There’s lacquer checking, and some of the deeper checking that you can feel, which is pretty common on laminated Gibsons. Some of the lacquer has chipped off at the headstock inlay and Gibson logo. The frets show even wear. It’s probably been dressed at some point, and the frets are lower from frets 1-7, but are quite tall in the upper registers. There’s some fingerboard wear, but no deep gouges. The pickups are marked IGT 26 APH1N0199 (Neck) and IGI 70 APH 1B 0204 (Bridge) Original neck set with nice action. A really nice guitar. (VG+)
