Description

Nearly museum quality early, early 61 ES-345 with an "A" serial and no serial on the headstock. It has a 1960 factory order number and shipped with a factory long guard-unusual but not unheard of in January 61. The gold is in great condition with only moderate wear. The guitar has been converted to 335 spec and the original harness is in the case. The PAF pickups had never been out of the guitar and never opened before I converted it. The original gold Kluson tuners are in the case and need a couple of tips replaced so I installed a set of new exact match Klusons. All original plastic and hardware except for the pickguard. The original long guard was removed (by me) for a 60 345 that needed one. The repro is very accurate. Neck profile is typically slim in late 60 and 61 and this one is definitely that. Wide at the nut-wider than most 58-60's at nearly 1.69". The finish is original and nearly mint. No marks of any significance. If not for the light wear to the gold, you would think it just left the factory. The frets were done recently by Gary Brawer and a new nut was installed at that time (original in the case). Frets are medium jumbo. Guitar plays beautifully and sounds excellent with great balance and plenty of bite. Case is correct 61 with Gibson badge and leather handle. One latch has been repaired-all are functional.
