Description

By 1964, Gibson had come to its senses and put some meat back on the neck of the semi hollows which is what makes the 64's so popular (that and Eric Clapton). The finish is 9/10 but the gold parts show light (pickup covers) to moderate (Bigsby) wear. This mid 64 has that great 64 medium/fat neck. It has a set of patent number pickups which both appear to have been opened at some point. I looked under the cover and they are not rewound. They are early patents-purple enamel wire, the same as a late PAF except for the $1000 sticker. This 345 is bone stock. Nothing has been changed or altered. Still stereo, still has its Varitone intact and working. Tuners are double line Kluson which is unusual for 64 but not unheard of. As usual, the stop tail bushings are under the "Custom Made" plate. You can convert to a stop tail with about 10 minutes of "no skills required" effort. The case is Gibson badged black with yellow and is original. It is in good shape but you can see by the amount of case wear that this was a gigging musicians guitar. It is a 5 latch/leather handle with one busted latch which can easily be repaired.
