Description

Summary: After its short but noteworthy premier in 1958, the Gibson Explorer went out of production until the mid-'70s. Gibson changed the Explorer design in 1981 to include uncovered "Dirty Fingers" humbuckers, a maple neck with Ebony fingerboard, and chrome-plated hardware. The Explorer remained in production in various formats since, though again went on hiatus at the end of 2012. This particular guitar is from 2006 and it comes with the original Gibson hardshell case.

Body: Angled solid body electric guitar with a mahogany body and an ebony finish.

Neck: Mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, 22 frets.

Pickups/Hardware: Dual uncovered "Dirty Fingers" humbuckers, two volume and one tone control, tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece - Chrome hardware. Grover tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This instrument does show normal wear & tear from being played and used over the past decade – there is buckle scratching on the back, some light wear around the edges of the headstock, a few nicks & dings on the top, but overall this Gibson is in pretty good shape and is totally structurally sound.

Playability: This Gibson Explorer plays great – the action is low & the instrument plays with no buzzing & no dead spots. We set this baby up with 10’s and it is ready to be played and loved for years to come!
