2008 Gibson Flying V Brimstone Burst 50th Anniversary with Original Hardshell Case

Summary: First released in 1958, the Flying V redefined what an electric guitar could be. Gibsons’ radical V has been honored 50 years later with this limited edition Brimstone Burst 50s anniversary Flying V! With a nice mix of vintage appointments like ’57 Classic PAF style pickups and Art Deco style headstock logo, and modern features like a chamfered body edge for more comfortable feel you get a very unique and playable Gibson Flying V! It comes in its original hard-shell case and is in beautiful used condition and has just been professionally setup and restrung with a set of 10s.

Body: Flying V shape with AA flame maple top, comfortable chambered edges and a beautiful deep Brimstone Burst finish.

Neck: The neck profile is a hybrid between Gibson’s standard ’50s rounded contour and the ’60s slim-taper profile. It is topped by a 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard with pearl split-block inlays. Scale length is 24 ¾” and the nut width is 1 11/16”. This unique Gibson has gold fretwire, V shaped headstock and Art Deco headstock logo with red “V” inlay.

Pickups/Hardware: ’57 Classic pickup in the neck and ’57 Classic Plus in the bridge position, 3-way toggle, volume, tone, Steinberger Gearless Tuners, gold hardware, Nashville style tune-o-matic bridge, stop-bar tailpiece and gold 50th engraved truss rod cover.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great used condition with just a bit of normal players wear. There some light pick scratching on the front and some really shallow buckle creases on the back but no major scratches, dings or dents. There is a little wear through the gold plating on the bass side of the bridge and on the edge of the neck pickup cover. There is a small square shaped area on the headstock where the finish looks slightly different, probably came like that from the factory. The finish has checked along the line where the fretboard meets the neck a bit but it is hardly noticeable. Overall this guitar is in great shape with no breaks, cracks, visible repairs or major cosmetic blemishes.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no grooves or divots.
