Description

Offered here is another masterpiece from Kim LaFleur and the folks at Historic Makeovers. This beauty started off as a 2010 Gibson Custom '55 Les Paul Refin which was then transformed by way of a complete Historic Makeovers 'Deluxe' rebuild.

This Les Paul '55 Refin model was part of a short-lived Gibson run which was designed to replicate the results you would get from converting a '55 offset center seam Goldtop into a '59 Burst-style guitar. The artists at Historic Makeovers transformed this Custom Shop instrument by way of a $4K 'Deluxe Makeover' which includes a complete neck reset, replacement of the fretboard with Brazilian Rosewood, period correct inlays, a vintage style truss rod without sheathing and a complete refret. The neck is also reshaped as necessary to a correct carve with proper rolled shoulders. This neck on this guitar now has a proper rounded C-shape with depth measurements of .92" at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th fret. The guitar was then completely stripped and refinished in Lemonburst with period-correct aniline dyes, nitrocellulose lacquer and given Royalite binding. Then, it was very lightly, but accurately distressed by the pros at Historic Makeovers. The original plastic components were replaced with vintage-correct Retrospec plastic parts and the original Burstbucker pickups were replaced with ThroBak PAF style humbuckers.

The resulting guitar is amazing. It looks, plays, feels and sounds like the real thing. The light aging and the accurate finish checking are incredibly authentic and I defy you to find an LP reissue that plays or sounds better than this guitar. Check out the provided sound sample - this guitar has that fat, woody LP tone! This guitar has a total weight of 8.8 pounds and is so well balanced, it feels much lighter. The playability is fabulous.

This guitar has been well-cared for since it's transformation and the frets show little if any wear. It comes with an upgraded Lifton-style reissue case, both the original Gibson Custom and Historic Makeovers certificates, the hang tags, the original plastic parts and the Gibson Burstbucker pickups. The original owner has over $9K invested in this masterpiece!

This is a fabulous instrument that will please even the most demanding LP fan. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make it yours!
