1956 Gibson J-160E Sunburst, Excellent, Hard, $5,495.00

This Gibson J-160e has got to be one of the very first ones of “the cool kind” which is to say with the adjustable bridge that’s miles ahead of those real early ones that have weird bridges and saddles. For whatever reasons, the slightly later ones just sound a whole lot better, and have basically the same specs as those through the mid-1960s, as used by John Lennon. (Aside: Sean Lennon bought one of these from us a few years ago). So here it is: best design Gibson adjustable bridge; original, very traditional hot Gibson P-90 pickup right at the end of the fingerboard where it belongs; straight bracing under the top for eliminating feedback; and that great, unusual 15-frets-to-the-body neck, found nowhere else on anything cool. One ancient back crack, gone over by us, gig-solid everywhere. $5495 w/hsc
