Description

Gibson J-40 ca 1971 | A clean, well-cared for, near mint and original Gibson dread from the early 70s. The J-40 was a slightly less expensive version of the workhorse J-45. All solid woods with a double X-braced top and pinless bridge.
The top is solid spruce, bound in black and white celluloid. The back and sides are solid mahogany. The neck is mahogany and has a truss rod installed, and measures 1 11/16" across at the nut. Frets show only slight wear. The tuners are Kluson Deluxe. The bridge is rosewood and pinless, with plenty of saddle.

There are no evident repairs to the guitar, and it would be in mint condition but for a two inch impact crack on the side at the bass lower bout. Otherwise, there aren't even 'nicks and dings' to report. Action is set at ~ 6/64". The guitar plays easily and produces a full, woody tone with lots of power in the mids and highs, and strong bass.
Comes with its original hard case, also in excellent condition.
