A nice example of a fairly early Montana division J-45, this guitar is in excellent shape with little wear. It is entirely original including the hard shell case, the neck angle and playability are excellent. The back and sides are mahogany and the top is spruce with that nice Gibson sunburst finish (note that the dark diagonal line across the top that is visible in the first two pics, where your arm would lay when playing the guitar, is a shadow and not color in the finish or the top). The fret board and bridge are rosewood. The neck is flat under tension and the truss rod functions properly, the frets are in great shape. The guitar has had two hairline cracks on either side of the fret board extension repaired in my shop about 7 or 8 years ago, they remain tight and stable, visible only on very close inspection and are of no concern currently. Structurally stable inside, all of the bracing is secure and in good shape. The action is currently set at 6/64" and 5/64" ( at either E string, measured at the 12th fret), great for fingerstyle, plays well for strumming as well but if you are an aggressive flat picker you might want to bump the action up a bit. Plenty of saddle showing above the slot currently. Has the typical Gibson 'thump' in the bass and jangly mids and trebles. Very good J-45 that is closing in on 30 years old. $1500
