Description

Gibson L-00 ¾. This is a rare one. Less than 40 are known to have been produced. It’s FON, 1289, although not listed in Joe Spann’s book but would place it approximately as a 1935 guitar. The guitar sports a beautiful, small sunburst, bound top and soundhole. The nut is 1 9/16” and string spacing at the bridge is 2 ¼”. Scale is 22 ¾”. Original bridge, rosewood bridgeplate. There are two tight top cracks running from the bridge to the bottom of the lower bout, both have expertly repaired with small, well placed cleats. There are also two similar cracks on the back, once again both tight, cleated and stable. Low E string is 3/32” at fifth fret and 5/64” at twelfth fret. High E string is 3/64” at fifth fret and 1/16” at twelfth fret. The small size belies the sound and volume of this little guitar. Solid bass, present mid range and ringing trebles. It will go up against most 00 size guitars and hold its own. This guitar should not be confused with the LG-2 ¾ of which many were produced…this is one of Gibsons “make a few and stop” models. The perfect couch guitar you can finger pick it or take a plectrum to it…this Gibson will not disappoint.
