Description

I found this guitar at the request of a dear friend back in the 1980s, who kept it for about twenty years, then asked me to sell it for her, which I did, to one of my most trusted customers; it is now time for it to have its next home. It is an extremely warm and huge-sounding Gibson carved-top-and-back guitar, with pearl script-logo (earliest post-war version) and figured maple for the back and sides. It plays beautifully, was recently set up here in our own shop. Original frets, in excellent condition; some normal playing wear, some scratches and nicks, one minor repaired back crack, by us, thirty-five years ago and still stable. The pickguard is original, starting to show signs of what these always do, should be fine for many years to come. The back-to-side seam on both sides of the tail block shows a little sign of separation, a situation common to so many Gibson carved-top instruments. This has occurred over the last ten years while in the hands of the most recent owner, who elected to leave it; it is offered as is. This is as lovely a 1940's Gibson acoustic carved-top guitar as one could hope to find. The natural finish version of the post-war Gibson L-7 is extremely rare, and the tonal qualities of this particular one will be hard to match. Comes with original brown Gibson hard shell case. $2995 w/ohsc
