Yes, the price went up but that's because it's now in a 58-60 Cali Girl case. If you want the old price, you can have the guitar in the reissue case at $44K. This Les Paul started out as a stop tail late 1955 P90 gold top. Most gold top conversions have plugs in the top because most are built from 52 to early 55 guitars. A late 55 or 56 requires no modification other than the pickup routs (and the pick guard). This is as close to a real 57/58 gold top as you can get with a conversion. It has made the rounds of four of the finest luthiers in the country. The guitar was first worked on by Cris Mirabella who replaced the neck binding with original 50's binding and did a re-fret with vintage wire. It was then sent to Dave Johnson for refinish. Later, it was converted to humbuckers by Jim Weyandt at Jam City Guitars and finally, the top was refinished by Historic Makeovers' Kim Lafleur. All parts are original from 1955 except for the pickups which are long magnet 59-60 PAFs and the stoptail studs from the early 60's. The original short studs and bushings are in the case. The pickup rings are repro OTPs. The original '55 guard was cut to accommodate the PAFs. The original '55 serial number was restamped. Pickups read 8.76K bridge and 7.68K neck. Weight is just 8 lbs 5 ounces. Neck measures .86" at the first fret and .96" at the 12th. Nut width is 1.695" or just over 1 11/16". It's a wonderful player. It is in a 1958-60 Cali Girl 5 latch case.
