1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty

There's never been a cooler guitar than Gibson Les Paul Custom. It's classy yet mean. Aggressive sounding yet rich and beautiful when you want it to be. Above all, it's a guitar that seems to play itself.

This is an interesting one that probably has a lot of stories to tell though they are lost to time. It's definitely a 70's specimen with the pancake body and 3 pc maple neck. There is no serial number on the guitar. It had had a spill at some point as you can see signs of a crack in the cutaway. It looks like the neck was replaced, possibly by Gibson as a warranty repair.  The neck specs seem to be very spot-on for Gibson at the time so we believe they did the work. It has the correct shape/taper, volute, 3pc maple construction, the overlay looks spot on, and the binding is shaped along with the frets. There is a chance it is the original neck with the tenon re-shaped following the repair.

The pickups are a newer set of Brandonwound 59's that do a great job of touching those classic PAF tones. The pots date to '73 so that's what we'll call it. Be advised they are quite scratchy so we may wire up a new harness for it.
