A super-vibey yellowed out Alpine-White 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom. A joy to play with a slim fast neck profile and sounds killer producing tons of sustain and resonance with awesome tone from the stock T-Top PUs for an ideal LP tone. Players grade condition with moderate playwear, a small crack along the grain on the Maple top, and a hairline crack in the finish running along the bass side tuners. Comes with a few updated parts including a replaced bridge volume pot, upgraded 70s Grover Imperials, replaced back plates/strap buttons, and replaced frets for playability. This is an excellent Norlin-Era Les Paul! Includes modern Gibson hardshell case.

Check out the feature from our luthier Tyler in the ECG Newsletter:

"The Les Paul Custom has long been Gibson’s premier solid-body electric guitar offering, and goes back very nearly as far as the Les Paul itself. True to the base model, the Custom has followed a similar evolution through the years with some higher-end tweaks. The early '50s Customs used P90s just like the Standard, but sported a unique “staple” P90 in the neck for improved clarity. The late '50s saw its adoption of the legendary PAF, in a slightly larger quantity than its less expensive cousin. When the Les Paul we know and love went into hibernation through most of the '60s, the Custom followed suit. And sure enough, upon their return, the Customs again bore a familiar but distinct aesthetic. The three-piece “pancake” body, a matching three-piece laminate neck, and of course the signature Norlin volute are all present and accounted for, in all their Nixon-era glory.

This particular example is certainly one of the most original we’ve come across and happens to be the same year as Randy Rhoads’ legendary white Custom. The multi-piece maple top, a new feature added during the model’s 1968 reintroduction in lieu of the usual all-mahogany construction, is visually striking, to say the least. The top is showing a slight crack along the grain near the bridge but is confined to the maple cap and does not pose any sort of structural danger. The pickups are two wonderful albeit standard T-Top humbuckers that produce a perfect meld of vintage and modern tones. This Custom was certainly babied during its lifetime, showing no excessive wear or repairs to speak of. If you’re looking for a Norlin-era Custom, this one has everything you’re after."
