Description

Summary: The Les Paul Professional was introduced along with the fancier Les Paul Personal as an updated Les Paul concept in 1969. Gibson did not produce the Les Paul body shape between late 1960 and 1968, so both guitars were part of the first wave of new Les Paul models along with the Les Paul Deluxe and updated Les Paul Custom. These Les Pauls were distinguished by two oblong plastic-covered pickups, a more rounded cutaway horn, and an array of new electronics including a phase control switch. This particular instrument was made in 1969 and it sounds and plays great!

Body: Solid body electric with a single cutaway.

Neck: Fully bound mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, block pearloid inlays, 21 full frets and one half fret at the end of the fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, orignal Gotoh tuning keys.

Pickups/Hardware: This rare instrument has chrome hardware, black pickup covers, 2 covered low impedance pickups, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, multi-bound peghead with pearl split diamond/logo inlay, two covered low impedance pickups, "Gibson" formed on pickup covers, volume/decade/treble/bass controls, two 3-position switches, impedance/phase slide switches

Cosmetics: This old Gibson has lots of beautiful checking in the finish, tons of scratches on the body & lots of buckle rash on the back. The wear on this instrument is real honest wear & you can tell it has been played but well-loved & taken care of. The logo is missing on the headstock. There are lots of dings around the edges of the headstock & around the edges of this guitar.

Playability: This is a wonderful playing instrument – we recently put a new set of 10’s on the guitar & adjusted the neck to make sure the truss rod was working correctly. The action is low & the guitar plays great up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: This instrument is missing the actual pearloid “Gibson” logo on the headstock – it was either taken out on purpose or perhaps the logo chipped off over time.

Weight: 11 lbs, 0 oz.

Case: This instrument comes with the original hardshell case but the handle is broken.
