Here's your chance to grab a double-cut Special at less than $20k - far less! This one is from 1961, when production numbers waned as the SG body style began.

There are obviously some changes here. Let's start with what is original..

The pickups are stock, with outputs of 7.9k (bridge) and 8.4k (neck) nd original covers.

The pots and capacitors are correct with most of the soldering original.

The wraparound stopbar bridge is original, as are the tuners (with changed buttons), back plate and truss rod cover.

The pickguard appears to be original, though there was likely another one on the guitar at some point, evidenced by the extra screw hole in the lower horn area..

The guitar sports an unfortunate refin from TV yellow - you can see the remnants under the pickups and in the control cavity. This would be a perfect candidate for a pro TV yellow refin.

The output jack plate is changed, and there appear to be two additional holes in that area. Strap buttons are changed as well.

Frets were changed and they show a good amount of life left in them.

I'm not seeing any breaks or cracks anywhere. It does seem that the neck was worked on at the heel, but if so it was done well. The guitar sets up really well and plays great.

A Gibson hardshell case is included.

There is just no tone out there like these gorgeous mahogany slabs with P90s.
