1962 Gibson Les Paul Special Tv Yellow

Summary: Introduced in 1955, the Gibson Les Paul Special is the epitome of the less is more design approach adopted by Gibson solid bodies in the mid '50s, with a tone and playability that makes them far more versatile than their simple design would have you think. This 1962 Gibson Les Paul Special in TV Yellow is a fantastic example of the double cutaway design from the very tail end of the Les Paul Double Cut body shape. The original P90 pickups are present, with a beautifully balanced sound with plenty of punch. This Les Paul Special is interesting because it is extremely late for a double cutaway Les Paul body style.
Body: Slab Mahogany with a TV Yellow finish.
Neck: Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1.669” nut width, 22 frets, pearl dot inlays.
Pickups/Hardware: Two original soap bar P90 pickups, white button Kluson Deluxe tuning keys, black pickguard, wraparound tailpiece, 2x volume/2xtone controls/3-way pickup selector.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in great vintage condition and has wear that is consistent with an instrument from the 1960’s. The TV Yellow finish has aged beautifully. It has various nicks, dings, and scratches throughout, minimal finish checking. The pickguard has regular wear and is in great shape. The back of the neck has darkened in areas (See Photos Please). The frets are low and in good shape. The edges of the headstock have light wear. The back of the body has an odd pattern where the finish is not smooth and flat and almost lifted. This was hard to photograph but you can see it in the photos pretty well.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
Weight: 7.12 lbs.
Case: This guitar ships in a vintage chipboard case with yellow interior, professionally packaged, and fully insured. This guitar also ships with a vintage ACE strap, part of booklet on the Beatles, and 2 packs of vintage Gibson guitar strings (9-42).
