Description

Summary: The Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as a lower-end Les Paul Model. This 2011 limited edition Les Paul Special features dual humbucker pickups and a beautiful Pelham Blue finish.

Body: Solid mahogany body with a single cutaway & a beautiful Pelham Blue finish.

Neck: The guitar’s neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade C mahogany, carved to the fast, yet comfortable SlimTaper™ profile, with a fingerboard of dark obeche, a rich-brown hardwood with excellent tone and durability. This instrument has 22 frets, dot inlays, 1.695” nut width & a 24.75” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 490R & 498T humbucker pickups (uncovered), vintage style Gibson Deluxe tuning keys, dot inlays, chrome hardware, tune-o-matic bridge & a stop tailpiece. Black plastic pickguard, black knobs. This instrument has 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs & a 3-way switch.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in pretty good shape – I don’t see any major damage but there are some light cosmetic signs you can see when you hold the guitar in certain light. There is a little buckle rash on the back & a few dings on the body of the guitar – the finish is so awesome that it really hides most of the wear & you can only see it when you are looking for it or when you have the guitar in your hands. There is a long scratch on the top (not visible in the main photos) but structurally this guitar is totally sound.

Playability: This Gibson plays great – we recently set this baby up with a new set of 10’s and the action is low & the instrument plays great up & down the fingerboard. The truss rod is fully active & this instrument is ready to be played and loved for years to come.

Modifications: N/A

Weight: 7 lbs, 6 oz.
