Description

Astonishingly beautiful and ridiculously clean is this all original first year (1952) Les Paul Standard complete with its original brown hard shell case, strap and accessories. Introduced with a metallic gold top in 1952 Gibson's Les Paul Standard is perhaps the most iconic and best known in the history of electric guitars, this is a near perfect example of that first year Gibson Les Paul. This early variant is defined by several features specific to that first year of production such as, no serial number in 1952, the ingenious combination trapeze tailpiece/bridge, the large and tall gold barrel or speed knobs, the missing treble bass pickup selector ring, the slot head pickup height adjustment screws and the six sided Kluson tuner grommets (later production has round grommets). There's only one variant earlier than this in 1952 and that would be this same guitar without fingerboard binding and a slightly different pickup height adjustment screw pattern. This is a collectors grade all original instrument in near mint condition with absolutely no modifications or repairs. It has a perfectly straight neck with a working truss rod, it retains factory original electronics, not a solder joint touched. Every screw, every part is correct and original, the original finish is glossy and rich with minor weather checking and a few superficial scratches. The metallic gold top is very attractive retaining its rich and glossy look and has not turned brown or dulled with age as they can, the clear lacquer over the beautiful Honduras mahogany looks like new, only a slight amount of natural checking and patina have occurred, just enough to be beautiful and remind you that's it was actually made in 1952. First year Les Paul Standard gold top, a must for any series collector or investor, not to mention a great guitar which is now affordable since the market adjustment but appreciating in value as we speak, better return than a bank and easy to sell when you're ready. Only $19999. Thanks VGA -
